Who we are

You can read every page without an account. We never ask for your name, email or payment details.
What we collect and why
- Visit statistics (Google Analytics 4): pages viewed, the address you came from, device and browser type, screen size, approximate location (city or region, derived from your IP address, which Google Analytics does not store) and how you use the page. We use it to see which cities and features people need. Kept for 14 months.
- Advertising (Google AdSense): Google and its partners use cookies to show ads, including ads based on your earlier visits to this and other websites. See "Advertising cookies" below.
- Server logs (Cloudflare): to deliver pages and block attacks, our host processes your IP address, browser identifier and the requested address. Cloudflare keeps these logs only briefly, under its own policy (https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/); we do not export or store them.
- Emails you send us: your address and message, only to reply. Deleted on request, and at the latest 3 years after the last exchange.
- In your browser only: the °C/°F choice on English pages is saved in your browser's local storage. Trip dates you enter are processed in your browser and are not sent to us, but they appear in the page address, which visit statistics can record.
Advertising cookies
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings (https://adssettings.google.com), and out of some third-party vendors' cookies at https://www.aboutads.info/choices. How Google uses information from sites that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies stay off until they agree through the consent message shown on the site, and the choice can be changed at any time through that message's settings link.
Who processes data for us
Both process data on servers outside Korea, including in the United States, from the moment you open a page. We do not sell personal data and do not share it with anyone else, unless the law requires it.
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States): hosting, content delivery and security, so that pages reach you and attacks are blocked.
- Google LLC (United States, https://policies.google.com/privacy): Google Analytics 4 for visit statistics and Google AdSense for advertising.
Legal basis (visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland)
Analytics and advertising cookies: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Server logs: our legitimate interest in running a secure website. Emails: our legitimate interest in answering you.
How long we keep it and how we delete it
When a retention period ends, the operator deletes the data: analytics after 14 months (automatically, by the Google Analytics retention setting), emails as above. Server logs follow Cloudflare's policy. Electronic records are deleted so they cannot be restored.
Your rights
You have the right to see the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to ask us to stop processing it, and to withdraw consent you gave. A legal representative (for a child, a parent or guardian) can do this on your behalf. Send the request to hello@yearsofweather.com; we answer within 10 days. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site still works without them.
In the EEA and the UK you can also complain to your data protection authority. In Korea you can contact the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee (1833-6972, www.kopico.go.kr) or the Personal Information Infringement Report Center (118, privacy.kisa.or.kr).
Security
Pages are served over HTTPS only. Analytics and email can be accessed only through the operator's accounts, and we store no personal data on our own servers other than emails you send us.
Children
The site is not aimed at children under 14 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We announce changes on this page at least 7 days before they take effect, and update the effective date. Earlier versions are listed below once there are any.
