Hakone in August Lake Ashi Summer Festival Week runs into early August. On August 1, during Hakone Shrine's major festival, fireworks go up over Motohakone Bay, and on the 4th the Kojiri Ryujin festival has fireworks. On the night of August 16 a giant 大 character is lit on the slope of Mt. Myojogatake.
